Seminole is a city in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The first white settlement at Seminole was made in the 1840s. The community was named after the Seminole tribe whose descendants still inhabited the area. Seminole is located at 27°5019N 82°476W (27.838502, 82.784913) The city has a total area of 5.6 square miles (14.6 km²), of which 5.1 square miles. (13.2 km²) is land and 0.54 sq miles (1.4km²) (9.58%) is water. Its main arteries are State Road 694 and Alternate U.S. Highway 19. Its closest neighbors are Indian Rocks Beach to the northwest, Largo to the north, Pinell as Park to the east, St. Petersburg to the south, and Madeira Beach toThe west. The city's newest park is Waterfront Park, which features a waterfront boardwalk, kayak launch, walking trail, pavilions, and tennis courts. It is a joint use campus of St Petersburg College and Seminole Community Library, which operates as a joint library in conjunction with St Petersburg University. The second city park sits along the Orange Blossom Trail, which has a newly constructed large playground, basketball court, tennis courts, and bathrooms. The third city park is Boca Ciega Park, with a large playground with several pavilion that can be rented.
History

Seminole was named after the Seminole tribe whose descendants still inhabited the area. The first white settlement at Seminole was made in the 1840s. The community was incorporated in 1970 and has a population of about 2,000. It is located on the banks of the Tallahassee River, which runs through the center of the town. The town is located in the Florida Panhandle, which was once known as the Panhandle of the Florida panhandle, and is now known as Florida Panorama. It was incorporated as a city in 1970, and its population is about 1,200. It has an estimated population of around 2,200, with the majority of its residents living in the town of Seminole, which is about 40 miles south of Tallahasee, the largest city in the state.

It was the site of the World War II Battle of the Bulge, which took place in World War I and II. The town was named after the Seminole River, which runs through the center of the city, and was once a tributary of the Gulf of Mexico. The name Seminole comes from the Seminoles, a Native American tribe who lived in what is now the town of Seminole, Florida, in the 19th century. The word Seminole means "sea" or "lake" in Spanish, and is used to refer to the area around the city. It also means "river" in English, and "semi" in the Spanish language.

The Seminole Community Library operates as a joint use library campus in conjunction with St. Petersburg College. It provides materials, resources, services, and programs to the public. Several Pinell as County parks are in the Seminole area including Lake Seminole Park, Boca Ciega Millennium Park, and Walsingham Park. The City of Seminole has four parks and recreation center area for people of all ages to relax and play in.
