Oxford is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located within Oxford Township in Warren County, New Jersey, United States. The 2010 United States census counted 1,090 people, 455 households, and 287 families in the CDP. The CDP had a total area of 0.694 square miles (1.798 km²), including 0.689 square miles of land and 0.005 sq miles (0.014 km²) of water. The average household size was 2.38, and the average family size was 3.18. The median income for a household was $53,281, and for a family was $45,833. About 2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.1% of those under 18 and 4.0% ofThose over 65. The town is located on the New Jersey Turnpike, which connects to the New York City subway system and the Northeast Corridor via the Raritan River and the Hackensack River.Oxford Furnace Manor is located in the town, and is a private, non-profit organization that provides care for the elderly and disabled. The community's name comes from the word "furnace" which means "shippen" or "shovel" in English. It is also known as "Furnace Manor" and "Shippen Manor" because of the large number of homes in the area. It was named after a former owner of the property, who moved there in the 1800s.
